Criminal Child Abuse:  North Carolina Law in Light of the Adrian Peterson Case

Another NFL running back is making legal news. Adrian Peterson was indicted this week by a Montgomery County, Texas Grand Jury for felony child abuse. Here is a link to the Washington Post story on Peterson's indictment. http://goo.gl/I60cPq
Peterson allegedly used a switch to punish his son. The switch left marks on the 4 year-old's body. While Peterson is charged in Texas, the story gives us an opportunity to discuss North Carolina's child abuse laws and any limitations on a parent or custodian's right to employ corporeal punishment.
